Montreal West's Administration Department is responsible for implementing the policies established by the Town Council and for ensuring the execution of its decisions. The Town Manager is tasked with planning, implementing and attaining the annual objectives set out by Council, as well as with overall management of all municipal services. The Town Manager is therefore the link between the Town's Administration and its elected officials, as well as being our liaison with other levels of government.
Our Administration is also responsible for human resources, specifically the development and implementation of policies integrating personnel management and organizational development in order to maximize performance and efficiency. The Administration is charged with maintaining healthy labour relations, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, and providing our departmental directions with the advice and expertise necessary for the proper HR management for their own departments.

The Town Clerk is in charge of the legal aspects of our municipal administration. The Clerk drafts municipal by-laws, records the minutes of Council's meetings, maintains the Town archives and processes access to information requests under the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, the processing of claims and other legal matters.

The Finance Department, under the Town Treasurer, is responsible for the proper administration of public funds and the maintenance of rigorous accounting records. Together with the other department heads, the Finance Department exercises budgetary control over all matters financial in the Town, from billing and collecting taxes to paying employees and suppliers.
The Finance Department helps service directors with the preparation of their budgets, which are then submitted to Council. The Department is also responsible for the preparation of our financial statements, management of our long-term financings and debt, control of information systems and management of the Town's inventory of assets.
