In the event of a major emergency, be informed!
The Town of Montreal-West has now implemented an automated emergency notification system called Code Red. In the event of a major emergency, the Core Red system will provide the Town with the ability to reach and inform residents of a potential danger within minutes. The system is capable of transmitting millions of messages per hour. Residents would receive important information including possible procedures to follow by telephone, email and SMS text messages. Potential emergencies can be major fires, gas leaks, environmental disasters, road closures, evacuation notices and water supply problems such as boil water advisories. The Town can use this system to notify the entire Town at large or to pinpoint a single street or area in order to only notify the affected residents of a water supply problem due to a water main rupture.
Do you only have a cell phone at home, is your number not listed in the telephone book or have you recently moved to Montreal-West? If so, please click on the following link to add your information to our database.
In order to take full advantage of this system, we encourage all of our residents and merchants to visit the above link and add secondary phone numbers, cell phone numbers and email addresses to the data base. By doing so, you will be able to receive text messages, emails and a phone call should you be away from your home during an emergency. The current Code Red data base only contains listed land line telephone numbers in our Town therefore, participation from residents is paramount in order to ensure the system’s success. If your phone number is not in the database, you will not receive an alert message. Smartphone users are encouraged to provide an email address.
Please note that you will see 866-419-5000 on your call display should an emergency call be made to you on behalf of the Town.
