Montreal-West is a small, close-knit community a short train ride from downtown Montreal. With a population of just over 5000, the Town is made up primarily of single family dwellings, is home of many young families, and encourages the involvement of citizens in a wide range of community activities. Among Town Council’s priorities are the provision of quality services to residents, the renewal of the aging infrastructure, and the maintenance of a solid financial administration. The Director General is responsible for implementing the policies established by the Town Council and for ensuring the execution of its decisions. The Director General is tasked with planning, implementing and attaining the annual objectives set out by the Council, as well as with overall management of all municipal services. He/she is the link between the Town’s administration and it elected officials, as well as being the liaison with other levels of government. Human resources management is also a major component of his mandate.




. University degree in an appropriate field of study, Master’s degree preferred.

  Member of the Quebec Bar a plus.

. Minimum 5 years experience in municipal administration in a management position.

. Track record of effective negotiations (unions, government grants)

. Knowledge of municipal bylaws and the current application of relevant provincial laws

  and regulations.

. Demonstrated knowledge of publics affairs and the political environment, particularly

  at the municipal and provincial levels,

. Proven ability to manage administrative processes (staffing, project management,


. Competence with Municipal Management Software.

. Fluency in French and English both spoken and written.




. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate his team for a common goal.

. Superior communication and interpersonal skills.

. Excellent organizational abilities and aptitude to multi-task and prioritize.

. Ability to work autonomously.

. High standard of personal integrity and ethics.

. Facility to manage human resources.
